work.

the people are nice. the pay is good. the customers...interesting. i have to kiss a bunch of pampered peoples rotting behinds. ive gotten good at it sadly. but whatever makes them happy, makes my bosses happy, which keeps the money coming. :) i do enjoy being a hostess though im not gunna lie. its relatively easy work and i just have to smile alot and make people feel welcomed and like they are the king of the world. easy enough. i wasnt in theatre for three years for nothing :)

russia day 7

DAY SEVEN
The day of finality. Ugh. I do not wish to go home yet. The Moscow metro if very beautiful. Apparently Staling tore down some cathedrals and put the marble in the metro stations. We went to a bazaar today and did some shopping. It was very nice. For lunch we went to the massive mall just outside of Red Square. Sooo after Kaitlyn and I left our dishes on the table, two guys come up and started eating our leftovers… strange.
Red Square. It closed minutes after we got there. Something about a national holiday. We went into one of the orthodox cathedrals and got yelled at for taking pictures. St. Basil’s is beautiful. Pictures do not do it justice. I wish I could have gotten some better close up of some of the details.
Hard Rock was good. A bacon cheeseburger. Mmmm yummy. We enjoyed our final night together. We shared lots of laughs. O the memories made on this rip . I love these kids.
Tomorrows gunna be a long day. D.C here I come. woot woot.

russia day 6

DAY SIX
We left Kaluga today. The morning was filled with shopping and the evening was filled with traveling. First we went to the space museum. I wasn’t that impressed. They only allowed one person out of all 15 of us to take pictures. Talk about strict. Needless to say, we all wanted to leave there ASAP.
We then went to the market where I got some good flower pictures before we were told (by told I mean yelled at) not to take pictures. Cranky cranky. From the market we went to some shops and bought some souvenirs. Fun stuff. We came back to the church, packed, and left for Moscow. It was an uneventful trip. Thank goodness. I have felt feverish all day. not fun. I need sleep.

russia day 5. part 2

Russian pizza. Its different but I rather enjoyed it. It was flavorful. I’m pretty sure some of the pizzas had rosemary and other types of herbs on the. Oh! and different types of cheeses and the crust, o my goodness was it good.
We leave Kaluga tomorrow afternoon for Moscow. I’m not looking forward to saying my goodbyes. It feels like just yesterday we got here. I love Russia. Once you get to know them, Russians are a sweet people group. Tomorrow morning we’re visiting the Russian space museum. Fun. Its along day tomorrow and they’re calling for lights out.

russia day 5. part 1

DAY FIVE
Today, today, what about today. We visited two orphanages today. The first was a home for those with special needs. We loved it. The kids were so sweet and happy. They had this room called the healing room. It was a beautiful, quiet place. I want one. They had an adorable theatre where the kids perform danced and skits an things. They performed for us. We all loved it. Some did skits to music, some danced and some sang. It was beautiful. Those kids reminded me of the good side to humanity. They were so loving and joyful even though they have crazy circumstances.
The second orphanage. It was close to a disaster. It started off really slowly and awkwardly. We weren’t sure what to do with the older children: all of the things we had prepared was not for that age group. They fed us dinner. Which was quite yummy. Then we were with the little kids. So much fun. They were awesome. We played with clay and beanie babies. They were a fun bunch of kids.

russia day 4

DAY FOUR
I didn’t sleep well last night. My dream kept me on my toes. I dreamt that I was set on fire while in Russia. Strangely, I felt no pain just fear. I was taken to the hospital where they bandaged me up. I tried several times to call mom and jimmy but ever got through. I was frightened, more frightened than I can ever remember feeling. I don’t like it. Needless to say, I was a Grinch for most of the day. I just wanted sleep!
Today did turn out pretty well though. After lunch we road out to the orphanage. It was a good time for my mood. I was able to retreat into music and pictures for a solid hour. Oh, I almost forgot. So Doc and Kahout left us alone, in a van, in a back alley, without an adult or a Russian who spoke English. Brilliant. Any whozers. The orphanage. It was nice. They had a theatre/ stage complete with a grand curtain, cyclorama, teasers, and legs. It was beautiful. The time started off a little awkward but once we started the craft, everything smoothed out nicely. The ride home was uneventful. Dinner was good as usual. It was the Russian version of meatloaf with rice. I’m so exhausted. I miss everyone so much. I cannot wait to be with those I love but I do not want my time in this beautiful country to end.
Kaluga is a very artistic city. I believe it is because of its age and the chaos it has seen.

russia day 3

DAY THREE
Morning and I already wish to kill someone. The boys knew we would be up early and in their room to use the mirror, now they’re complaining. It’s not our fault they decided to stay up talking into the wee morning hours. It’s not our fault they got little sleep. Wow, I want to hurt someone. I wish I could go back to sleep and start today over again. Yey its Easter.
Easter service(s) was good. And long. We had to sit through two and stand up in front of them and talk. Its been a long day. we walked up to the space museaum and handed out invited to church. Talk about a lot of walking on a semi hot Russian Sunday. The food continues to be excellent, the Russians fun, and my companions growing in annoyingness. After dinner we (including David and Albina) went to a Russian spa. O my was it a welcomed relief. The “men” went to their own buidling and beat each other with sticks and leaves…. We ladies had an enjoyable bonding time. Can I say hot tub!! J It felt so good and it was a welcomed break from male testosterone. D.S is currently treating us like four year olds and counting down the time until “lights out”. Thanks soo much. I’m a senior in high school. My parents don’t even enforce a bedtime. Needless to say my patience wand tolerance for some is shorter than me and it is steadily draining with every passing moment. Joy.
