bear...
... a black thing sent from the dark corners of hell. i kid you not. he is evil. at night, if you arent careful he will attack your feet while you are walking to bathroom, on the bright side, you dont have to pee anymore. on the downside, you have to change ur jammies and your foot may be bleeding and possibly getting infected with strange kitty germs. his eyes are a deep forest green and when he lays in wait you can see the tips of his k-nines resting on his lower lip much like a vampire(: i love my kitty. he keeps me warm at night when he is not planning his next attack on my foot or face.

a re write of sonnet 106
Sonnet 106
In the vast space of wasted time
I have read stories of beautiful people
And beautiful people creating poetry
Of beautiful dead maidens and brave knights
Some descriptions of
Hands, feet, lip, eye and brow
Are written by poets of old
Beauty that you portray
Everything that has been written, foretold of your beauty
Although you resemble those maidens once spoken of
They saw you as an angel
But they could not put your beauty into words
And we who see you now
Can only marvel at your beauty

todays america and God
1. There will always be more money to earn, bigger houses to buy, faster cars to drive. In the culture we live in today, it is very hard to be satisfied with what you have. We, as a human race, are constantly being bombarded with the sense of entitlement, “I want it and I want it NOW!” We are spoiled. I do think it is possible to be content with what you have, but you have to know what God is doing in your life. You have to be comfortable with giving up control of your circumstances and letting God work. It takes faith. Being happy with what you have is possible but hard to attain.

fate
1. I was once asked if I thought Fate was stronger than the will of a man. I honestly do not know. Part of me believes, how can it? If God has given his creation a free will, then there is nothing to determine the outcome of our lives, but us. On the other hand, it is highly improbable that something so simple, yet so complex as the human body formed by chance. So that would indicate that there is some outside force that creates and controls the lives we live. As of right now, I cannot agree nor disagree with the idea of Fate.

christianity and beowulf part 3
Experiencing relatively calm seas, the Geats “thanked God / for that easy crossing on a calm sea” (237-238) the moment they landed on sandy beaches. The men proceeded to inform King Hrothgar that they had come to fight against Grendel. At the feast that night Queen Wealhtheow was heard thanking “God for granting her wish / That a deliverer she could believe in would arrive / to ease their afflictions” (626-628). Beowulf “placed complete
trust/ in his strength of limb and the Lord’s favor” (669-670) as he began to patiently prepare for the arrival of Grendel. “Nor did the creature keep him waiting / but struck suddenly and started in” (738-749) and the duel began. Beowulf’s powerful grip on Grendel’s shoulder sent the beast into a maddening fury. Grendel let out “a God- cursed scream and strain of catastrophe / the howl of the loser, the lament of the hell- serf / keening his wound” (785-787). The monster fled to his lair where “hell claimed him there” (851).
The monk’s Christian inserts gave a purpose to the life of Grendel and also to the lives of those he terrorized. Grendel was no ordinary monster, he was a supernatural being. The men in this story, especially Beowulf, seem almost god- like. Every time one of these men of high esteem thanked God or gave God the credit for their strength and wealth, they became more mortal-they became easier to relate to. In the end, Beowulf will always be considered a classic.

christianity and beowulf part 2
There was a man by the name of Cain who killed his brother in cold blood, and as his punishment, God cursed him and his descendents.
Cain’s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed
and condemned as outcast. For the killing of Abel
the Eternal Lord had exacted a price:
Cain got no good from committing that murder
because the Almighty made him anathema
and out of the curse of his exile there sprang
ogres and elves and evil phantom
and the giants too who strove with God
time and again until He gave then their reward. (106-114)
From Cain’s punishment, the villain of Beowulf, a “God- cursed brute” (121) is born. For years this beast, more commonly known as Grendel, ravaged villages of the West- Danes. No mortal human dared go up against this tyrant. Until, one day, “ . . . the mightiest man on earth / high- born and powerful . . .” (197-198) decided that he, Beowulf, would try his hand at fighting this “ . . . fiend from hell” (100). Beowulf gathered his mightiest warriors and together they set a course for the West- Danes.

christianity and beowulf part 1
What is literary art? That is the question that must be answered in order to even consider the dilemma, “Does the poet’s Christian influence detract from the poem?” The definition of art comes from ones perception of reality. To me, literary art is a group of words that strikes an emotion deep inside you. It is a thread that connects the soul of the artist to the emotions of his viewers. It causes you to feel like you are standing right there with the characters, feeling what they feel, seeing what they see. The first man to write down Beowulf is suspected to be of a monkish background due to all of the references of God that were added to the text. In the additions, the monk created a sense of inhuman fear when he described Grendel as a “God- cursed brute” (121). The monk made it easier to relate to the hero of this poem every time he (Beowulf) thanked God or asked Him for His protection. The monk nailed it down when he added his Christianity to this classical work of art.
